What Is Total Life Changes?

It’s a good name for a company that deals in health and wellness products. At least it sounds positive.

This MLM company differentiates its product range from all the other wellness companies by claiming they use a life changing algae in all their formulas. You will often find that each health and wellness brand strives to include at least one obscure ingredient to make their product stand out from all the rest. For others it might be seaweed or Aloe Vera. With Total Life Changes it’s algae.

To be perfectly blunt there are far too many businesses – especially MLM companies – trying to get in on the health and wellness craze. I literally come across a new one every couple of days. The niche is so over-saturated it’s beyond a joke.

Total Life Changes used to be known as SeAcai, back when the Acai berry was the latest health craze. Remember that? Where’s the Acai berry now? In 2012 creator Jack Fallon rebranded his company to Total Life Changes and adopted a special algae as the secret ingredient.

About the Algae

Total Life Changes refer to their special algae as Iaso® Techui. It is a refined Spirulina powder that is known in some circles as a super food. Rich in protein, essential vitamins and minerals, Iaso® Techui is suggested to have the following health benefits:

  • Anti-inflammatory properties
  • Regulates blood sugar
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Restores intestinal flora
  • Strengthens the immune system

It has apparently been used by the ancient Chinese and the Aztecs as a health food and some people swear by its healing properties.

Essentially it’s just what everyone these days refers to as Spirulina, which is derived from a blue-green algae. Usually provided in powder form, Spirulina is often added as a supplement to meals, drinks and even breakfast cereal.

The Product Range

Here are the 5 main categories for the products produced by Total Life Changes:

  1. Health & Wellness
  2. Skincare
  3. Coffee
  4. Essential Oils
  5. Kits & Packs

In the Health & Wellness category we have things like weight loss supplements, energy drinks, multivitamins, detoxing formulas and more.

The skincare range tends to focus on lotions and potions for the face and around the eyes, as well as body sculpting creams and wraps.

There are only 2 types of coffee in the range. Both contain extracts from a magic mushroom known as chaga mushroom. Apparently it is the “mushroom of immortality”. I hope they don’t claim it gives you eternal life.

There are currently 8 essential oils to choose from, containing things like lavender, tea tree oil, peppermint and frankincense.

The kits are various combinations of the above products.

As with all MLM products and products in the health and wellness industry, prices are not cheap. As an example, a 5 pouch pack of Iaso Tea costs $49.95. Each pouch is said to provide enough tea to last a week, but I’m not sure how many cups that is. Maybe one a day. A tube of body toner cream in the skincare range also costs $49.95.

The Business Opportunity

I’m not a fan of the MLM business model, but I realise many people do like diving into these opportunities. The problem for me is that the way multi level marketing is set up, just about everything favours the company and not the distributor.

You essentially work for free after paying money to the company for the opportunity to be a sales rep. The company saves on advertising and doesn’t have to page weekly wages to a workforce. Distributors do all the promoting, selling, purchasing and recruiting on behalf of the company, in the hope of earning some commissions and bonuses.

You also never own your own business, the company does. You are just a sales rep and nothing more.

That’s my take on it and it’s pretty accurate.

This isn’t a slight on Total Life Changes. Just about every company that runs its operations in the MLM format is like this. It’s the very reason why businesses choose this structure to begin with; because it saves them loads of money and work in so many areas.

I make over $10k per month online. Find out how…

The Total Life Changes Compensation Plan

To join Total Life Changes as a distributor, you must first buy at least one product. That’s a better option than merely asking for a joining fee like some MLM companies do. To remain in active status and be eligible to earn commissions, you simply need to purchase at least one product from the entire range per month.

There are a number of ways you can earn:

  • Direct sales
  • Fast Start Bonus
  • Residual commissions on your downline
  • Various other bonuses

The company has set the MLM structure up into a binary one, where you have a stronger left leg and a weaker right leg. As I always find the structure and compensation of MLM highly confusing, I have included their official video below which explains the compensation plan far better than I can.

Is Total Life Changes a Pyramid Scheme?

All MLM ventures tend to operate on a pyramid structure when it comes to recruitment and compensation, but that doesn’t make them illegal pyramid schemes. An illegal pyramid scheme is one that relies solely on recruitment to make money and has no products of any real value.

Total Life Changes does not fit into that category.

Target Audience

These days there is a lot of focus on being healthier and watching our diets. Exercise has also become an integral part of the daily routines of many of us. This alone attracts a lot of people to MLM businesses in the health and wellness niche. And when you toss the opportunity to make some money into the mix, these schemes can be an enticing offering.

What I Like

  • There are some health benefits to Spirulina
  • The company has a decent range of products

What I Don’t Like

  • The prices of the products are very high
  • The health and wellness niche in MLM has been done to death
  • Trying to make money or recruit people in this niche will prove to be extremely difficult
  • Most people fail at MLM in their first year, some 95%

How Much Does Total Life Changes Cost?

To remain eligible to earn commissions and be a distributor, all that’s required is that you purchase at least one product from the Total Life Changes range every month. The cheapest product costs $39.95, so that’s your starting point.

Is Total Life Changes a Scam?

It’s not a scam, but like I said, this niche has absolutely been done to death by MLM companies. All the products are way over-priced for what they are and it’ll be a hard sell trying to get people interested.

Seriously, you’ll be flat out making any profit in any MLM venture involved in this niche, let alone turning it into a fulltime business which you never actually own or have any control over. The company has full control over everything that goes on. You’re nothing more than a sales rep and a recruiter who doesn’t get paid a wage.

Total Life Changes isn’t offering anything new here, so there’s no real selling point for you to focus on that sets this opportunity apart from the multitudes of other ones out there. Sure, they use Spirulina, but that’s been around for ages and you can purchase it without having to buy into the Total Life Changes business or product range.

Make More Money With Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing has some similarities to MLM, as in you can earn residual commissions and bonuses from various affiliate marketing companies. There are some major differences, though, such as:

  • Live Your Dream Lifestyle With An Online BusinessYou don’t have to purchase products or pay to be an affiliate
  • There is no retailing, packing or shipping
  • You don’t need to recruit in order to make money
  • You can promote to a worldwide audience entirely online
  • It costs hardly anything to get started
  • You own and run your own business, your way
  • You can run your business from anywhere, even while travelling

That’s just a few of the main differences and advantages to being an affiliate marketer.
