Give me Swagbucks for cash and great rewards is something you hear about all over the internet. But for the uninitiated, what is Swagbucks exactly? Is it some sort of online money making scam? Or is it a genuine way to make cash online doing what you already do anyway?

What Is Swagbucks and How Does it Work?
Recently I reviewed a very similar online platform – Inbox Dollars – where members can make a little money from performing everyday internet tasks. Both sites offer very similar compensation for the tasks performed, and both are very similar in the actual tasks.
So let’s look at some ways you can earn yourself rewards with the extremely popular Swagbucks system.
- Earn rewards points for offering your opinion with paid surveys
- Purchase “Daily Deals”
- Watch videos (we all do this anyway)
- Playing fun games
- Online shopping can earn you points
- Searching the web
- Swagstakes
- Download the handy Swagbucks Toolbar
- Taking part in Swagbucks polls
All of these tasks are pretty easy to do and can actually be fun at times. Anyone can join Swagbucks and earn some extra cash on the side by partaking in what’s on offer on their platform. Overall it’s a rewards type of site, just one of many on the internet, but also seems to be the most popular one.
There is even an affiliate program associated with Swagbucks. For every person you refer who joins through your unique Swagbucks link, you will earn 10% of every reward they make. May not sound like much, but refer enough people and it could add up to something useful.
Once you have accumulated enough rewards points (500 points for $5), you can either cash them out in the form of gift cards, for purchases on Amazon, Target and Walmart etc., or you can now even exchange them for real cash, with payouts through PayPal.
Once you join Swagbucks you will be required to fill out the details of your profile, providing Swagbucks with an overview of who you are and where your interests lie. This gives the platform a far better idea of what surveys and offers would suit you best. Swagbucks will even reward you for completing this task.

If you want to earn some extra coin online and have the necessary spare time to do so, then this is the demographic Swagbucks really targets. It’s a good starting point for those new to earning anything online, and gives members a chance to get their feet wet before embarking on more serious make money online ventures. People young and old can get involved in Swagbucks and it probably would provide some handy pocket money for retirees or college students.

The Cons
- It can take a very long time to accumulate enough points for a worthwhile payout
- The time spent compared to monetary trade off is very low
- You need to perform an abundance of daily tasks to reach a cash out level in quick time
- Some of the surveys are lucky to pay you as much as a dollar for a half hour of your time
- While it can be fun, you will waste a lot – I mean a LOT – of your time on this
- Some rewards are restricted to USA residents only, so you may not even get credited for doing some tasks
Tools and Training
The platform has all the tools you need. If you really want to get heavily involved, then it might be worth your time downloading the Swagbucks Toolbar. This way you can even earn rewards points for simply doing internet searches. You don’t really need any sort of training to be an active member, as all the tasks are basic and self-explanatory.

How Much Does Swagbucks Cost To Join?
Swagbucks is completely free to join and get involved in. There’s no joining fee or other fees payable by members. You simply do the tasks, earn rewards points, then cash out when you have accumulated enough rewards.
Is Swagbucks Recommended?
Yes and no. It really depends on what you are hoping to achieve online. If you just want to have a bit of light fun and potentially earn a few dollars along the way, then yes, Swagbucks is recommended.
However, if you want to make more serious use of your valuable time – time you can never get back – and plan to target a much higher online income, then forget Swagbucks and every other rewards platform like it. You’ll just find yourself getting caught up in a whole array of meaningless tasks that pay you extremely small amounts for the time you spend on them.
Swagbucks isn’t a scam or anything. It’s just a low paying way to earn rewards.
A Better Way To Spend Your Time and Make Real Money Online
These days, because I’m really focused on my online businesses, my time is extremely precious to me, so I don’t like to waste it on tasks that really don’t have the potential to pay in a big way. Swagbucks can be a good starting point for beginners, giving people the confidence that money can actually be made online, but that’s about it in my opinion.
Why not start your online journey steps ahead of what’s on offer at Swagbucks and establish an actual internet business that costs virtually nothing to set up and run, but yet can potentially make you thousands of dollars a month; much of it residual and passive in nature.
I’m referring to an affiliate marketing business, where you promote products from other companies and get paid commissions when sales are made. You don’t need to buy and sell, pack orders or ship anything. The manufacturer or online retailer does all that. All you are doing as an affiliate is referring people to these offers and getting rewarded – in real money, not gift cards – for your efforts.
It’s a very simple and stress-free business model and that’s why I love it so much. As a bonus, because it’s all run entirely online, you can literally work from anywhere.
