“I want to make money on the internet”, you say.
Well, don’t we all. The internet is a vast marketplace and there sure is plenty of money to be made online, without a doubt. The trick is knowing how to do it; how to access the stacks of cash that are out there in the virtual world. It’s not virtual money though, it’s very real.
A Little About Me
I’ve been an online entrepreneur since 2002, but more seriously since 2010 when I started writing, publishing and selling my own eBooks. Since then I have gone on to create other income streams, the more the better. These days I focus much of my attention on affiliate marketing.
Now, I’m not about to spin you hype like the gurus and tell you I’ve discovered a way you can make millions of dollars online in a matter of mere months with little to no work. It doesn’t work that way, unfortunately. I wish it did. We all have to start off small and slow and build our online businesses with love, sweat and patience. There is plenty of money out there, but you do have to work for it.
Okay, so I don’t personally make millions online (yet), but I have made enough money online – consistently – for the past 6 years to allow me to work from home fulltime. All my income is derived from online sources, and that’s how I like it.
Why?
Because it’s freedom!
Work From Anywhere In The World
Now this is the best part. You can work from home, the park, down the beach, anywhere in your home town, anywhere in your home country or virtually anywhere in the world. Once you are self-sufficient from your online income, you truly do have the freedom to travel anywhere and work. You just need an internet connection and a computer or tablet. Much of the income will be residual anyway if you do things right.
If you don’t know what residual income is, the best way to describe it is this:
“Make money while you sleep”
You Need To Learn How To Make Money Online
Unless you possess some rare gift, you won’t know how to make any real money online unless someone shows you how to do it. There are plenty of “gurus” out there who will gladly separate you from your hard-earned cash with promises of riches if you join their over-priced (and often bogus and outdated) training programs.

Once I discovered the Wealthy Affiliate training and community, then it all started to come together and make logical sense.
It’s Not Rocket Science
Making money online isn’t that technical. And affiliate marketing is easy. It’s just promoting another company’s products for a commission. So, if you’re still saying to yourself: “I want to make money on the internet”, then give affiliate marketing a try.

Hi Darren, as a fellow online entrepreneur I think you have touched on a number of important points. Earning money online is definitely a possibility but there are so many schemes out there promising you everything and as you say taking all your money in the process.
I am a great fan of wealthy affiliate because I do see it as a genuine place to learn where you are working alongside online business owners from all over the globe. Most of the people on the site are relative beginners but constantly sharing their experiences and helping each other. And of course there are also experts around 24/7 so you’re business can be worked on whenever it suits you.
