Most of us could use some extra cash, whether it’s a regular second income, or a one off sum to put towards a bill or something special. In this post we’ll look at 6 ways to make extra money at home.
#1 – Sell Your Services
You could do this either offline or online. Think about some skills or abilities you have that people would be willing to pay for. In the online world, maybe you could offer copywriting services or web design. In the offline world the scope is much bigger, as your services could include physical labour activities like car washing or small repairs. Maybe even photography if you’re handy with a camera. If you are just looking for a bit of extra cash or some one off money, then there really is no need to officially set up any sort of business. Just print up some basic flyers or advertise yourself online on sites like Craig’s List and get the word out.
#2 – Sell Your Stuff
Just about all of us have stuff lying about the house and yard that we never use, but could be of interest to someone else. You could do the eBay thing and sell your unwanted items online. You never know, it could even lead to a small online business if you find something that sells well and you can get more of them. Selling offline you could advertise in free classifieds or organise a garage or yard sale to move your stuff. This is always one of the easiest ways to bring in a little bit of extra temporary cash.
#3 – Make Money With Your Car
If Uber is in your area, consider making money with your car by becoming an Uber driver. Basically you use your car as a private taxi service and you are the driver. Some people make really good money doing this and you can choose the hours you work. You can work all day long if you desire, or just for a couple of hours. The choice is yours.
#4 – Rent Out Your Spare Room
If you have a spare bedroom in your home, have you ever considered renting it out? It doesn’t have to be a permanent thing. Maybe you might just rent it for 3 months until you get on top of your bills (or whatever you need the extra money for). If you don’t have a spare bedroom, do you have an empty garage? You could rent it out for storage space, or even to someone who wants to park their car somewhere and save on expensive inner city parking.
#5 – Teach Others What You Know
We all have acquired various skills and knowledge throughout the course of our lives. Each of us has something we can teach to those who know less about a particular subject than what we do. Maybe you’re a whizz with a camera and could make a few extra bucks on a Saturday morning showing someone how to navigate around their new DSLR? Or you might be a bit of a legend swinging a golf club and could teach a beginner the basics. The list here really is endless, and all of us will have some skill or knowledge that is greater than someone else’s. Put your thinking cap on and come up with a list of things you could tutor people on.
#6 – A Part Time Online Business
I say part time, but the business I’m about to suggest could easily become a fulltime income earner. Affiliate marketing is what I’m suggesting. All you need to get started is a computer and an internet connection. The beauty of affiliate marketing is it costs very little to get started. You sell no products of your own, but rather promote the products and services of other companies online for a commission.
