Is Affiliate Marketing A Business?

Question: Is affiliate marketing a business?

Answer: Yes it is.

End of post…

Okay, maybe we could cover a bit more ground on the subject, but I have answered your question about affiliate marketing being a business in the first two lines.

It is indeed a business, generally set up as an operation from home or anywhere really. Affiliate marketing is like one of the ultimate mobile businesses. So long as you have a computer and can get access to a halfway decent internet connection, then you’re good to go.

If you are looking for a business idea that you can do entirely online, one that doesn’t cost much in the way of start up costs or ongoing running costs, then it’s hard to go past AF as a business idea. You don’t need to stock any products or ship anything. You just need to have a website, some social media accounts and eventually build an email list; and affiliate marketing can set you up with a great business and lifestyle for life.

It’s definitely not a job. You are not employed by anybody. But you are a worker, as in the money doesn’t just magically roll in. You have to do some work, be persistent, be dedicated and put some effort in. You are your own boss. You can do this kind of business in partnership with a friend, family member or loved one, or you can go solo. Eventually, if you want to really grow your business and take it to the next level, you might consider hiring staff, or at the very least, outsourcing some of the work to freelancers.

If you plan to work your affiliate marketing business by yourself, then you can just go about it as an individual. Depending on what country you live in, you may not even have to register it as a business. You aren’t being paid a wage and you are not invoicing anyone. You’re basically working on commission and it’s a very similar set up to receiving royalties from book or music sales. Authors don’t have to become a registered entity; not unless they really want to because of some advantages that may come with that. Affiliate marketing works essentially the same way.

Seriously, if you want to get started making money online, set up a business that can bring in good income for many years – a business that will allow you lifestyle freedom – then affiliate marketing is as good a choice as any.

You give and invest every day and the beauty of it is that the work you do pays dividends down the line, if you stay the course.
