What Is Amway Quixtar and How Does It Work?
Quixtar is merely a sister company of Amway. Essentially it works on the same business model – MLM and Network Marketing. It’s a pyramid business format and Quixtar, along with Amway, have actually been taken to court on racketeering charges.
I wrote a detailed review on Amway recently – which you can read here – so I won’t go heavily into details in this review of Quixtar, as it’s really just Amway reincarnated with a different name.
You see, when companies like Amway either develop a poor reputation, or they reach a point of saturation where everyone has either heard of them or tried them out, these companies need to reinvent themselves and relaunch under new and catchy names that no one knows yet.
If you join Quixtar you are really just joining the Amway family, which has been operating since the 1960s.
Those at the top of Quixtar (Amway) are the ones making all the big dollars, while the multitudes down towards the base of the pyramid are the worker ants, whose task it is to put in all the hard yards so those at the top can sit back and get rich.
I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of anything MLM or Network Marketing. Sure, these types of businesses can work out for some individuals, but essentially they are a losing proposition for most involved simply because of their business structure and very high prices for products.
Quixtar consists of down lines and uplines, where everyone is taking a cut of the sales action. This is why prices blow out to be ridiculously expensive, as these companies need to charge top dollar in order to be able to compensate everyone in the line from the bottom to the very top.
For you to join Quixtar as an IBO (Independent Business Operator), it requires you to build down lines in order for you to have any chance of making any decent cash. What this means is you will need to hassle the living hell out of everyone you know in the real world, as well as online, to try and entice them to join the scheme under you.
As a member you need to commit to a minimum monthly spend to be eligible for commission payouts. That spend can be made up of sales to friends and relatives, purchasing products for yourself, or a combination of the two. Either way, you need to purchase or sell the minimum amount every month or you’ll be booted out of the system.
You don’t get paid wages for being a distributor. The only way you can make money is profit on direct sales, or by earning miniscule commissions from sales that occur in your direct down line.
I’m yet to meet anyone who has even made some half decent part-time income from MLM, let alone gotten rich from it. It equates to a hell of a lot of hard work for very little monetary reward.

Why It Likely Won’t Work For Most People
Although the name “Quixtar” is not as well known as Amway, just about everyone has either heard of Amway, has tried Amway, or is sick to death of people trying to hustle them into joining Amway. Quixtar is no different. As soon as you venture along to a Quixtar meeting you will soon realise it’s Amway.
It’s getting harder and harder to recruit people into Amway these days, and the only way you’re really going to have a chance of making cash is by building a down line. If that’s virtually impossible to do, you won’t make money.
It’s that simple.
It’ not just about recruiting people, either. Those people in your down line need to perform and get out there making sales and recruiting more members. Having a down line of a 1000 people is worthless if none of them do anything.

Who Is The Target Audience?
MLM schemes attract those people who want to start a business; either as a side hustle, or something to replace the daily grind of 9 to 5 work.
These days a combination of online and offline promotion is possible, which does open a few more doors and possibilities for beginners. Amway is expert at selling the dream lifestyle of time and money freedom, and that’s how they lure people into their MLM system.
The Pros
- Very motivating seminars and meetings
- They know how to sell the dream very well
- The principal of time & money freedom
- Quixtar is far newer, but parent company Amway has been around for a very long time
The Cons

- You need to hustle constantly and will likely alienate your friends and family members

- It’s a pyramid scheme, despite Amway claiming otherwise
- Amway and Quixtar have undergone many investigations
- In 2010 Amway was forced to pay a settlement for a class action suit for alleged fraud and racketeering
Tools and Training
When you go along to an Amway/Quixtar meeting it’s all very motivating. They love to sell the dream and a lot of hype, much like the sales videos you see online for the numerous money making schemes proliferating the internet. Quixtar hype everything up, but never really tell you much about how you’re going to make the dollars they claim you will make.
With no real training, they ask you to purchase their training products and sales paraphernalia. Everything to do with Amway Quixtar costs you, the IBO, money. There’s no free lunch with this company in any way, shape or form.
Quixtar and Amway don’t so much focus their attention on getting distributors selling product. It’s more about selling the system. The more people they recruit into the system, the more people paying out the minimum monthly spend on products and sales/training materials.
How Much Does “Amway Quixtar” Cost?
As mentioned earlier, to join Quixtar and remain an active member, you need to either purchase for yourself or sell approximately a minimum of US $300 per month. This figure may vary from country to country and there are exchange rates to consider, but that’s basically the figure everyone is up for on a monthly basis.
Is “Quixtar” A Scam?
I’ve more or less alluded to Amway being a scam in the past, and Quixtar is exactly the same thing, just under a different name. These schemes are no complete out and out scams, but they do focus on selling hype and way over-exaggerate the amount of money most IBOs are likely to earn.
It is a pyramid system, and those are illegal, although Amway and many other MLMs find ways to dodge that official label.
You’ll be starting down at the base of a huge pyramid if you join Quixtar, and it will prove time consuming and extremely frustrating to make any real money from a business venture with Amway Quixtar.
A Far Better Option Is This…
If you want to start a home-based business, why not venture into the online world to do it? You have a global marketplace to potentially make money from, with more than 3 billion users across the world now accessing the internet on a daily basis. Online shopping has increased to a trillion dollar industry in recent times and it’s always growing.
I prefer to do business online, work from home (or anywhere), be my own boss and call the shots. One of the main things I do is affiliate marketing. It’s such a simple business model that anyone from teenagers to grandparents can do it.
And best of all, it’s super cheap to get started; way cheaper than joining Amway and far cheaper than most other forms of business.

OMG…thanks for the review. I had never heard of Quixtar before your article. But of course, surely I have heard of Amway and how it created a big scandal a few years ago. I want no part of them or their cousin/sister – whatever family member, this Quixtar is.
The price alone per month would have made me weary, to begin with.
