Intro
Over the years I’ve done quite a few paid surveys for a variety of platforms. Most of them are above board, but occasionally you come across a scam. Aside from that, surveys are a good way to make your first break online to earn some money, but I wouldn’t do them for long, as you really get paid a pittance for your time.
What Is Survey Savvy?
Survey Savvy is based in San Diego, California. They have been around since 1999 and currently operate in 195 countries across the globe.
Survey platforms work as a go between portal. Companies need certain market research to gather important marketing information. They achieve this through surveys. Rather than companies and survey participants trying to randomly find ways to meet up, these companies use portals like Survey Savvy to provide ready participants for their market research.

How It Works
Survey Savvy is pretty much a standard paid survey platform like countless others out there. It’s free to join and create a profile. It’s very important that you answer all the questions they ask you, as they’ll use this information to match you up to appropriate surveys. The more detailed information you provide, the more surveys you are likely to be invited to complete.
Once you’re in the system you will periodically be invited to participate in surveys. The amount of surveys you receive can vary from person to person. Once you complete a survey it can take anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks for the rewards to be credited to your account. Long time.
How Much Can You Earn?
Well, this is the real crunch point. You never earn much for doing paid surveys, and often you will be screened out of surveys and earn absolutely nothing. Some surveys are really short and take just a few minutes to complete. You can expect to earn about 50 cents for these ones. The longer ones, perhaps 20-25 minutes to do, can fetch you $2-$3 if you’re lucky.

Getting Paid
You need to have an account balance of at least $1 to request a payment.
Note that all payments are in US dollars regardless of where in the world you live, and there are no PayPal options. Everyone gets posted a cheque, which is kind of useless at these payout levels.
I live in Australia and it costs me $15 in fees just to bank a foreign cheque.
Also, once you request payment it can take up to 3 months for your payment to be processed and for your cheque to arrive in the mail. Probably longer for some overseas locations.
Referral Program
They offer a 2 tiered referral program, which means you earn on your direct referrals to Survey Savvy when they successfully complete surveys, and you also earn a lesser amount on their direct referrals. I couldn’t find any information on what percentage you earn on your referral income, but it likely wouldn’t be very much.
Savvy Connect
This is a tool for online surfing, both for mobile devices and computers. It tracks your online activities, providing companies with valuable data. If you opt in for this feature, you will be rewarded each month for having this app run in the background. Again, I’m not certain how much they pay, but I did see $5 mentioned somewhere.
Target Audience
Paid surveys can be a good way for newbies to making money online to break the ice. You could never expect to make more than just some part-time pocket money from them, though. They just don’t pay enough and surveys are too infrequent.

What I Don’t Like
- It can be hard to qualify for the surveys
- Surveys really don’t pay very much for your time
- Survey Savvy pay everyone by cheque only with no PayPal option
- It takes forever to have your rewards credited to your account, and just as long to get paid after requesting a payout
- Who knows what they do with the information they collect with the Savvy Connect app

Is Survey Savvy a Scam?
Survey Savvy is okay and it’s certainly no scam, but there are better survey platforms out there. Ones that pay via PayPal for starters, as receiving foreign cheques for the amount you earn doing paid surveys is pretty much a complete waste of time. You will lose all your money in bank fees if you live outside the US.
Ultimately though, paid surveys just are not a very smart way to spend your time if you want to make some decent money and be handsomely rewarded for your efforts. There are much more profitable things you could be doing online. See below…
