~ GetResponse Email Marketing Review ~
Probably one of the best known email marketing platforms is Aweber. It’s also one of the most expensive. Another one that is widely used and popular is GetResponse.
If you want to start building an email list and get into email marketing, then you will need to team up with a really good email marketing platform. I use GetResponse and have done for years, so in this review I’ll offer a brief rundown of the benefits of this platform and why I think it’s a great choice out of all the email marketing platforms available.

What Is “GetResponse”? A Quick Overview
GetResponse covers everything you need to set up and run successful email marketing campaigns. With GetResponse you can do the following:
- Create opt in forms
- Create email templates
- Do email/newsletter blasts
- Build your list of subscribers
- Set up an email autoresponder
- Create fantastic, converting landing pages
- Create surveys
GetResponse covers absolutely everything any marketer or business could need to gain subscribers, communicate effortlessly with those subscribers, as well as create beautiful forms, emails and landing pages. It’s the basis of creating a successful sales funnel.
You can get started for free to try it out and they even have some in-depth training. There are videos and tutorials that teach you everything you need to know about their system in a step-by-step format, from getting subscribers, creating lead magnets, through to keeping your subscriber list happy and eager to open your emails.
Email marketing and autoresponders can seem a bit daunting for the uninitiated, but once you know what you’re doing it’s all pretty straightforward. The training runs you through every step of the process and it’s really simple to follow.

We’ve already mentioned many benefits above, but we’ll recap here and add a few more:

The Cons
- It can get rather expensive per month if you have a big list of subscribers
- There is a learning curve, but the training helps a lot
- It can take time to build a good-sized list
- I find their landing page creator awkward to use at times
GetResponse Packages and Pricing
As I’ve said, it’s free to get started and try it all out for 30 days. After that you need to upgrade to a basic plan that starts at $15 for up to 1000 subscribers. As your list builds you need to upgrade your plan accordingly, as per the example screenshot below. It is said that each person on your list is worth approximately $1 per month; meaning if you had a list of 1000 that you regularly contact and promote to, theoretically you should make $1000 a month from your subscribers. Easily more than offsets the GetResponse costs.

Do I Recommend GetResponse For Email Marketing?
I’ve tried the popular Aweber and didn’t like it. Plus it’s more expensive. Each to their own.
GetResponse is easier to use all round in my opinion and I have no complaints. It can take a little while to learn what you’re doing, but follow the video tutorials and it all comes together nicely. Sometimes their opt in form creator and landing page creator offer up a glitch, but overall this is a great platform and the starting prices are pretty good compared to some others. Plus you get to try it out for free.
If you want to get into email marketing (and you really should), or you are looking to change email marketing companies, then definitely give GetResponse a try. You’ve got nothing to lose when it’s free to test it out.

As I am starting out in affiliate marketing and new to this type of tool I would go for the free trial. Can you tell me how long it took you to learn how to use this? I very much want to add this to my site and business so just want to know how much time and effort I will need to put into it.
Hi Owain, to be honest I felt pretty confused with the whole email marketing, autoresponder thing for a few days until I decided to follow their training on GetResponse. Once I started their video tutorials it was all pretty simple after that.
Thanks for the review. I also noticed that GetResponse also has marketing automation. Have you tried it? I’m actually looking for an affordable marketing automation software, but compared to others like Hubspot, GetResponse seems like a better option for a small company.
Hi Lila. GetResponse have emailed me a few times about their new automation software. As yet I haven’t tried it out, but I really should get round to it. For anything to do with emailing marketing, building a list, creating landing pages and autoresponders, GetResponse do it all. They also have a free video training course that runs you through everything you need to know in brief, easy to follow lessons.
So, GetResponse is sort of an all-in-one marketing platform. I decided to try them out and see if their marketing automation works for me. 🙂
