Quit your job, make money from home instead….Eventually. That’s the key word that needs to be added at the end of that phrase. Of course, if you have enough cash in reserve and are ready to start making an income online, you could conceivably quit your job now and get started. But most people won’t be in that position, so the wise course of action is to start slow on the side, building up that online business over time until your income from it reaches the point where you can quit your day job and work on your online business fulltime.
Why Would You Want To Do This?
“Lifestyle Freedom”
That’s the best part about working from home online, complete lifestyle freedom. You need very little money or resources to start an online business and keep it running, and working from home allows you the scope to do more other things and spend precious time with loved ones. In fact, you can work from anywhere in the world.
You are also spared that horrendous daily commute to work and back through peak hour traffic. Who needs, that, right?
Basically your overheads are minimal when working from home online. You are really only paying just slightly more for services that you normally pay for at home anyway, and these now become tax deductible. A portion of them anyway.
What Can You Do Online?
There are many things you can do online to make money. Some are cheaper and quicker and easier than others, but there are countless possibilities, and you have a global marketplace of daily internet users numbering in the billions.
One of my favourite online businesses (and I do a few) is affiliate marketing.
Why?
Because anyone of any age and from any background can learn to do it successfully. It costs virtually nothing and you don’t really need to be a salesperson, writer or have tech skills. I personally know some online marketers who are not particularly adept writers, have never sold anything in their lives before, yet are quite successful affiliate marketers.
It all starts with a dream and desire. From that point on it’s a matter of deciding what you want to do and actually get started. Persistence is the key to making a living online and eventually being able to quit your day job.
I assume that’s the main goal of anyone reading this post; to be able to quit their jobs, having replaced it with an online business.
What Is Affiliate Marketing Exactly?
Basically just acting as a sales rep for other companies, promoting their products and getting paid a commission (in some cases very generous commissions) when a lead from one of your unique affiliate links (provided by the company when you create an affiliate account with them) culminates in a sale.
It costs nothing to sign up for affiliate programs and it’s in the best interests of these companies to let you be an affiliate for them because they are essentially getting free advertising and promotion from affiliates, only paying for it when actual sales are made.
Training Is Optional, But Highly Advisable
You can become an affiliate marketer without training and guidance, but it makes the process a lot harder, with no solid direction or correct course of action. It will also take you a lot longer to make money at it and realise the dream of working fulltime from home.

Thanks for your post. So if I was to do affiliate marketing I see plenty of adverts telling me how easy it is to get started and I can make money quickly without training with their “business in a box” programs. Why should I go to Wealthy Affiliates ? Regards, Chris
Affiliate marketing won’t make you money instantly. It takes time to get things going. It’s pretty hard to know what to do without some training. I tried that and It didn’t work. I only started to really get direction and do things the right way once I joined Wealthy Affiliate and started actively following their training. There are other good training programs out there, but WA is the one I know and I know it works.
