We’re now well into 2017 as of the time of writing this post. What are some of the best ways to make money in 2017? What are the best ways to make money online? Well, I’ve done a little research and here are a few I’ve come up with.
Create a Course To Sell Online
This is a tactic that is becoming more and more popular with sites such as Udemy and others offering a platform and training on how to do this. It can be quite lucrative if your course is popular. If you know more about a subject than the majority, then you could very well create a course.
Freelancing
This could be writing content or blogging, ghost writing eBooks, graphic design, computer programming, website design. The list goes on. Content mills such as Freelancer don’t tend to generate much income for the work. You are better off directly advertising yourself to businesses that might require your services to attract bigger money. I speak from extensive experience here.
Resume Writing
This is a medium that has really grown in popularity in recent years. Writing CVs for clients directly, or even through a third party, is now big business. I’m not sure how much you can earn doing this, but I see jobs for this everywhere.
Managing Social Media Accounts For a Business
This entails posting social media content, answering comments and messages, posting regular tweets on Twitter. Many companies are far too busy to maintain their social media accounts, so they are willing to pay someone else to look after them. If you use social media a lot anyway, might as well make a few dollars for your efforts.
Editing
Editing has also become big business nowadays, with so many authors out there writing books, as well as businesses all focusing on content marketing. If you have editing and proofreading skills, then there is a plethora of work available, and you can do it in your own time at home.
Become a Virtual Assistant
Very popular gig in third world countries such as the Philippines. VA’s handle things like answering phone calls and emails for businesses located in western countries. It saves the business owner time and money, as well as having someone filter their calls and emails for them.
Be An Instagram Influencer
Not everyone on Instagram can hope to achieve this status, as you usually need to target a particular niche group as well as have amassed a big following. The bigger the following, the more brands will want you to advertise their products in your Instagram posts, and the more money they will pay you. As a guide, you generally need to have at least 5000 followers to hope to be an Instagram influencer. If you have followers in the millions, then you can literally name your price.
Make Advertising Income From Videos
With YouTube and all the other video hosting platforms that are so popular today, if you get enough subscribers to your channel and monetise your videos, there is money to be earned in advertising revenue. Obviously the more popular your videos are and the more views you get, the more money you will make. Videos can be about anything and everything. Who knows what’s going to go viral?
Make Money Blogging
This is one of my favourites, and it can be a great source of online income for your too. Whether you make money from ads on your blog, or actively promote the products of other companies as an affiliate, there is money to be made doing this. Again I speak from extensive experience.

The Resume idea is an interesting one, I’d not thought about this, but whenever I apply for a job I invariably get an interview, and I have had comments on my CV, but I’d never thought of this as a way to make money. I might look into it now – thanks for the inspiration!

I’ve never actually done the resume writing thing for money before, but I often see jobs for it online; either for a resume writing company, or directly for the client. Not sure what it pays, but it could be worth looking into.
This gives a lot of great ideas for making money online. There are lots of avenues. I have used some of these. I have done writing and editing. Right now, I’m working on making money from blogging through affiliate products. Wealthy affiliate has been one of the best resources for learning and refining my craft.
