What Is SFI and How Does It Work?
Gery Carson started the Strong Futures International (SFI) scheme way back in 1998. Gery is quite well known and he has grown the business steadily over the years. SFI now boasts around 120,000 product offerings and covers some 200 countries.
So what is SFI exactly? What does it do, and what opportunities are there for you to earn money by being involved?
Unlike most MLM opportunities, this one is free to join. Once in, the idea is to do the following as quickly as possible:
- Become an (EA) Executive Affiliate
- Recruit 5 more affiliates
- Teach your recruits how to follow these 3 steps
These steps prove that this is indeed a multi level marketing setup, but it’s actually more than that, as it is also an affiliate program. It’s one of the aspects of the SFI opportunity that I find somewhat confusing.
To remain an active affiliate you need to accumulate 1500 VP (Versa) Points per month. This is achieved by things like social media posting and completing tasks in the Launch Pad area of the SFI website.
SFI is also partnered with auction site, Triple Clicks. These two sites work in tandem to make affiliates, and Gery Carson, more money. Triple Clicks is one of those reverse auction sites, where you have the be the lowest unique bidder to win the auction for your bid price. Sometimes this works out really cheap, but many times it’s almost impossible to have a unique bid. Triple Clicks makes its money off people paying a fee to enter the auction.
How To Earn With SFI
There are a number of ways to make money here, but it wouldn’t be very easy. To start with, when you earn your 1500 VP every month, you are entitled to a small share of the money pot allocated for that month. What amount that share will be, who knows, but that’s one way to earn cash.
On the affiliate side of things, you can earn commissions by promoting items that are for sale or up for auction on Triple Clicks. Commissions range from as high as 65% to as low as just 5%.
Now for the MLM part of the deal.
SFI uses the revenue sharing money matrix system, where you recruit others into the matrix and you get to move up the list. It’s 12 levels deep and that’s huge for a money matrix. Mostly they are 5 to 7 levels. These matrix systems are actually Ponzi schemes and they are not financially capable of sustaining themselves for very long, meaning a whole bunch of people who invested money into the matrix miss out entirely on collecting a windfall. The person at the top of the matrix, and the person at the peak of the MLM pyramid, is always the real winner.
Target Audience
Although it seems to be somewhat targeted at people who are new to affiliate marketing and MLM, the way SFI is set up, it would be rather intimidating and complicated for a complete newbie to have any hope of getting their head around this diverse system, or being remotely successful at it. I could be wrong, but I’d say someone with some affiliate marketing experience would be better suited.

- There is a bit of variety in the SFI business model
- Reverse auctions can be rather interesting
- SFI has been in business since 1998
The Cons
- The compensation plan is a little confusing
- Needing to get to 1500VP per month will likely cost you money
- The money matrix is not financially self-sufficient
- Maybe there are too many things going on with SFI, too many things to think about
Tools and Training
The website offers up some rudimentary training in how to go about earning with SFI and through promoting products on Triple Clicks. Members really need to create their very own website though, to really make a good go of promoting SFI as a business opportunity.
How Much Does SFI Cost?
It doesn’t officially cost anything to join, but you are required to earn a total of 1500 VP every single month to remain active and eligible for commissions. During the first month this is rather easy, as there is a lot for you to accomplish initially. After that first month though, it can get really tough. And in order to reach that 1500 VP total every month, you may find yourself having to make purchases to earn your rewards points, meaning you will likely spend more money than you make.
Is SFI a Scam?
I wouldn’t say it’s a scam at all, but a little confusing in some ways with regards to how you earn dollars. There are also a lot of different things to do and keep track of, and the very real risk of constantly spending more than you actually make.
To me this doesn’t seem like a very sustainable business model all round; especially the money matrix side of it.
Make REAL Money Online Like I Do!
I’m into affiliate marketing myself, but there are better, more versatile ways of doing it as a business than the way SFI is set up. I mean, who wants to be restricted to promoting products that only exist on Triple Clicks?
Genuine affiliate marketers really need two major tools in their arsenal:
- Their very own website and own the domain name
- An email list that is always growing
The website really needs to come first, then establishing and growing an email list relevant to the website can be started a little later.
The best way to learn what to do isn’t just by performing some random research on the internet. It is far easier, way less confusing, and a much quicker path to success if you are trained in what to do and in what order to do it, by people who have already succeeded in this business.
