What Is Team Beachbody?

Is Team Beachbody a ScamTeam Beachbody is quite a catchy name for a MLM and a little different to some others I’ve encountered over the years. I mean, we’d all like a hot looking beach body, wouldn’t we?

This business has actually been around for quite a while, since 1998 in fact, yet there are many reports on the internet accusing it of being a scam.

I’m not a fan of the MLM business model anyway, but they’re not all scams. Let’s see what this particular one is all about.

This scheme is all about becoming a Beachbody Coach, but you have to reside in the US or Canada to participate in the business side of things.

So what does it entail exactly to be a Beachbody Coach? Is that some sort of personal trainer or nutritionist?

As you look further into it, yes, that is kind of what the company is implying, which I find quite ridiculous. Not everyone is qualified to be a fitness coach, and certainly not everyone is going to look like one either.

What they’re really asking of people is not to coach so much, but to be a promoter and distributor of their fitness plans and products. The idea is to help both yourself and others achieve fitness goals while at the same time earning an income and treating it as a business.

Being a MLM setup, your job is to actively recruit others via your website and any other way you can think of. So far there is some 450,000 coach distributors, which is a hell of a lot considering this platform is limited to just the USA and Canada alone.

While you can make some money with MLM, most people don't because it's simply too hard and takes too long. Affiliate marketing is way easier in my experience (and I've done MLM as well). Just give the Wealthy Affiliate training a try. You can start for FREE!

The Products

As with just about all multi level marketing systems there are products to buy and sell, so what are they?

  • Team Beachbody ShakeologySupplements
  • Nutrition plans
  • Workout gear
  • Progress tracker
  • Challenge packs
  • Fitness guide
  • Shakeology boosts
  • Equipment
  • Beachbody On Demand (online workout videos)

How the Team Beachbody Coaching System Works

If you live in the country (US or Canada) and are of legal age, then you are “qualified” to become a Team Beachbody coach. You just fill out the application to join the business and buy a business kit for your new coaching role.

Really you’re just a salesperson, but given the tile of coach. You haven’t actually done any training or earned any qualifications to be a coach. It’s just a gimmicky name instead of calling you an IBO (independent business operator) or a distributor.

Now that you’re officially a qualified coach and have your business kit, you can get to work shaping your own body and trying to sell the system and products to others so they can get to work on their beach body and also try to sell the system to others. And so it goes on and on.

As a coach you not only pay the joining fee, but also a monthly fee to remain eligible to sell the business. You also receive a replica website that looks identical to the official one, only when people access any of the products or sign up for the business, your unique link will be attached and you will earn commissions.

The Compensation Plan

Like anything MLM, the real money isn’t in just direct sales of products to others as a retailer or distributor, it’s in the recruitment. Build your downline, get them active and make money from all the commissions and bonuses you receive for your team’s efforts.

Here you and your recruits will be selling Beachbody products and earning team cycle bonuses. As a direct seller you will earn 25% commissions on product sales. Likewise you can also get products for yourself at a 25% discount rate.

For Challenge Pack sales you earn between $40 to $105 and 15%-40% on memberships.

See below for a chart that illustrates this.

Target Audience

People who want to do a part-time or fulltime business (though making a fulltime income would be really tough to do). People who are either into fitness or want to get healthier and develop a sexy beach body.

Tools and Training

You get a duplicate or replica website, a business kit and some training from your sponsor on how to go about selling and recruiting. Join some webinars or go to some meetings in your area to learn more tips and tricks. This is all about building a downline, so if you don’t succeed in that process, you won’t succeed in this business. Watch some videos on YouTube.

What I Like

  • I quite like the beach body premise
  • It’s not that expensive compared to some other similar programs
  • It has been around for two decades

What I Don’t Like

  • Your chances of financial success with a MLM that is restricted to the US and Canada only, and already has close to half a million distributors, is extremely slim
  • The fitness, health and wellness MLM niche is super saturated and competitive
  • You need to purchase (or sell) a minimum amount every month to remain eligible for commissions and bonuses
  • The idea that everyone who joins can be a qualified fitness/nutrition coach is ludicrous
  • It will be near impossible to get your duplicate website to rank in the search engines for free organic traffic
  • According to their latest income disclosure statement, just over 50% of coaches in Team Beachbody earn no money, zero, and the average income is a mere $449 a year

How Much Does Team Beachbody Cost To Join?

You have to pay a membership fee of $39.99 to join the program, plus pay $15.95 per month to be considered active. After that you will need to purchase product as well as likely spend money in an effort to recruit people.

Is Team Beachbody a Scam?

Some people label this as a scam, but it’s not. The qualified fitness coach label is a scam, or more of a gimmick. I’m not a fan of any MLM is it’s a torturous way to try and build a business that makes real money or could become fulltime.

It’s extremely tough and would be even tougher with this one, as the scope is limited to just 2 countries and there are already so many people involved as coaches already.

I wonder how many of those almost half a million coaches actually have hot beach bodies? Hmm…

Make Money Online the Way I Do

I make a great online income and have been doing so for quite a few years now. One of my main income earners is affiliate marketing.

It’s a very cheap business to get into, is extremely simple in its concept, and actually quite easy to do in a number of ways. It does take some time and effort, but if I can do it and millions of other people can be successful at it, then there’s no reason why you can’t too.
