~ MyPoints Survey Review ~

What Is MyPoints?

MyPoints is a paid survey platform that has been around for quite a while, since 1996 in fact. So it’s no fly-by-nighter company.

By the way, it's great to see you here and reading this review. It means you do your homework, and that's always a good idea when it comes to anything online.

This platform is more than just a paid survey portal, though. It’s a rewards site similar to sites like Bizrate and Swagbucks, where you earn rewards for doing all sorts of activities. Those rewards can later be redeemed for cash or gift cards.

You have to be a resident of either the USA or Canada to participate and you must be over the age of 18.

Doing paid surveys is okay. There's nothing wrong with it. But if the goal is to make decent cash, then do what I do and give affiliate marketing a try. Wealthy Affiliate will show you how to get started, and it's FREE to join!

How It Works

Joining MyPoints is totally free. Once you have set up an account and answered all necessary profile questions you’ll be able to start earning rewards immediately. Below are some of the tasks you can do to earn rewards points with MyPoints:

  • MyPoints Video RewardsGroupon and LivingSocial redemptions
  • Making online purchases through preferred partners
  • Reading emails
  • Participating in paid surveys
  • Watching video content
  • Participate in offers and trials
  • Get discount coupons
  • Play games
  • Refer friends to MyPoints for 10% commissions

As you can see by the list above, there is more to it than just filling out surveys. It’s all very basic and anyone can do the things MyPoints have available in their dashboard to earn rewards points.

How Much Can You Earn?

Well, the amount of points you earn per task is very minimal to say the least. As an example, you might sit through 20 minutes of video ads and earn less than 10 points for your time. Likewise, a paid survey might pay you 50 points. For really long surveys you may earn as many as 600 points, but those are few and far between.

This is what you are looking at. 700 rewards points is the equivalent of $5. You need a minimum of $3 worth of points to cash out via a gift card, or $25 worth of points to get a PayPal payment. At the approximate rates mentioned above for watching videos and doing paid surveys, it’s going to take quite a while to reach a payout figure for actual cash.

All of these sites pay in peanuts, whether they are dedicated survey platforms or more general rewards sites like this one. They do all pay you something for your time, it’s just not very much.

Is it worth doing? Well, that’s up to you, but just remember your time is valuable and for every second you spend mucking about on MyPoints or something similar, it’s time you can never get back.

Target Audience

These sites are aimed at people who likely have never made money online before. They can be a good starting point, just to get a taste for it, but long-term they really are sites that just waste a lot of your time.

What I Like

  • They offer more than just paid surveys
  • The company has been around for over 20 years
  • It’s a good starting point to learn that money can be made on the internet

What I Don’t Like

  • The rewards are really, really low for the tasks you perform
  • It can take ages to reach enough rewards points to cash out via a PayPal payment
  • Watching all the videos and some of the other tasks can get extremely tedious and boring
  • The general opinion is there is a lack of customer service
  • Many of the surveys are incredibly hard to qualify for
  • It’s only available for residents of Canada and the US
  • These sites are really just major time wasters
  • There are lots of complaints about having accounts closed down when you try to redeem your rewards points

MyPoints Complaints

How Much Does MyPoints Cost?

It doesn’t cost anything to join MyPoints, but if you participate in some of the free trial offers you might start getting charged for products and services you don’t want, as you have to give them your credit card details.

Also, some of the ways you earn rewards requires you to spend money first in order to get cash back and things like that.

Is MyPoints a Scam?

I don’t see this platform as a scam at all, although there are a lot of complaints about accounts getting suspended when people go to cash out. But even if it’s all legit, is it really worth spending your time on it?

Not in my opinion. If the goal is to actually make some decent money for your time spent online, then you won’t find it with MyPoints. There are far, far better ways to make money on the internet than doing paid surveys.

Make Money With Affiliate Marketing Instead

I do affiliate marketing online and I make well over a fulltime living from it. It’s a far more profitable way to spend your time than doing surveys and all the other menial tasks associated with rewards sites like MyPoints. They really are a total waste of time if you want to make real money.

I enjoy complete lifestyle freedom that having both time and money can provide, and you can too. In fact, it's an awesome way to create multiple passive income streams.
