What’s An Autoresponder About? GetResponse Email Marketing

what-is-a-autoresponder-getresponse-email-marketingGetResponse email marketing is one of the very best companies you can team up with for building a subscriber list, sending out email blasts, automating the process and creating opt in forms. They also offer an easy-to-use autoresponder service. “What's an autoresponder about?” is a question many newcomers to email marketing will ask, and the purpose of this post is to explain what an autoresponder is, how it works and why you need one.

The Mystery Of Autoresponders Unveiled

Having the capacity to set up a series of autoresponder emails is one of the greatest advantages about having a company like GetResponse to handle your email marketing campaigns and tools for marketing automation. Autoresponders are designed to reduce the workload on you, while at the same time getting the word out to your growing list of email subscribers about your business and promotions.

To first grow your list you need an opt in form on your website, sales page, squeeze page, social media accounts etc.. You also need to offer your potential subscribers a reason to sign up to your list, usually achieved via offering something for free. This is what’s referred to as a lead magnet.

The purpose of the autoresponder is to send out periodically a series of pre-written emails. You select on your autoresponder calendar when these emails will be sent. The autoresponder sends out the emails on autopilot, so you just write them once, place them in your designated autoresponder on GetResponse and every time you get a new subscriber, your autoresponder takes care of the sending of the emails. This frees you up to do other things.

Below is an example of one of my autoresponder email series.

Getresponse time based autoresponder example

Let’s look at an example. Say you promote recipes and you offered a short eBook with free recipes as your bait to get people on your list. You promise to periodically send subscribers free recipes. You set these up in your autoresponder and when someone joins, the emails get sent out on the designated days (generally 2-3 days apart). Within these free content emails you will slip in the occasional email that promotes or sells something so you can make some money from your list. So long as the promotions are relevant to your business and niche, it doesn’t really matter what you try to sell them.

The autoresponder saves you having to manually send every email to every new subscriber every time someone joins. The autoresponder takes care of it all for you.

Along with the series of predetermined autoresponder emails, every so often you may want to send out a newsletter or email blast to everyone on your list at the same time. This is separate from your autoresponder, allowing you the flexibility to send emails whenever you like, as well as taking advantage of the automated process.

For Autoresponders Why Choose GetResponse?

For starters, I personally use GetResponse so I can vouch for their services and performance first-hand. I’ve never had any issues. They offer a 30 day free trial to put their system to the test, their prices are reasonable for those just starting out, their system is easy to use and they even have free training in the form of video lessons that takes you through the entire process of learning all there is to know about GetResponse and email marketing.

GetResponse is also one of the most popular, along with Aweber (which is slightly more expensive).

You get to create:

Once your 30 day free trial period comes to an end, if you want to continue to use their services you will need to upgrade to a paid plan, with the cheapest package starting out at only $15 a month. This allows you to build your list to 1000 subscribers, after which you will need to upgrade again. All email marketing platforms charge this way. It’s just part of the deal.

  1. Really Awesome post.

I want to add an autoresponder too, I just started my blog 13 days ago, do you recommend me to get into email marketing now or maybe after few months?

This was an informative review and $15 a month is not very expensive, how much should I pay if I get more than 1000 subscribers?

    • You should start building a list as early as possible as it can take some time to get subscribers. You don’t want to miss out on possible subscribers, even this early on. Once you pass 1000, the price goes up to $25 a month, which you can then build your list up to 2500 subscribers.
