What Is Nerium International?
Some people are quick to label every MLM venture as a scam or a pyramid scheme, and Nerium hasn’t escaped being labelled a scam by some people. But is that really a fair assessment? Are the products any good and, most importantly for the purpose of this review, is the business opportunity Nerium International offer worth trying?
Nerium International has its headquarters in Addison, Texas in the US. The company launched it’s first product back in 2011. That product is one of their flagship products – Nerium Age-Defying Night Cream.
While Nerium was first started as a skincare company, and skincare is still at the core of their product range, they have also branched off into the ever-popular wellness niche that goes hand in hand with their skincare product range.
The products and business opportunity are available in 11 different countries.

When it comes to MLM businesses, all products will be over-priced. There’s no way around that because of the very nature of the MLM compensation plan.
As an example of prices, a tube of Firming Body Contour Cream costs $90 and 30 tablets of EHT Brain Formula will set you back $60 (or $2 per tablet).
As to whether the products are any good, trying them for yourself is the best way to find out. Across the internet reviews are pretty mixed.
Nerium International Business Opportunity
That’s the Nerium products covered very briefly, but what we really want to look at is the Nerium International business opportunity.
When you join the Nerium business you are then known as a “Brand Partner”, which is merely their term for a distributor of Nerium products. At the very minimum you need to spend almost $500 for a starter kit and then you’re on your way.
All MLM companies rely very heavily on recruitment. It’s primarily how they make their money. Nerium International is no different. Yes, you can make money on direct retail sales, where you purchase products from Nerium at a discount and then sell them at retail price, but you likely won’t get very far taking this route.
Recruitment and building an active downline is where the money is, if you can get enough people interested and move yourself up the levels in the Nerium pyramid.
One of the good points about the way Nerium work on behalf of their Brand Partners, is if you make a sale, you simply place the order with Nerium’s warehouse staff and they ship the product directly to your customer, crediting your account with the profit margin.
Of course, you can still order products for yourself at a discount rate and then on sell them to others directly.
But to get seriously into the Nerium business, you really need to recruit like crazy, by whatever means possible.

The Nerium International Compensation Plan
As noted, you can make money with retails sales, but really most of the money to be made by joining Nerium is to build that MLM downline.
Your downline can go as deep as 10 levels, and there are a total of 10 membership ranks you can aspire to and achieve. To climb the ranks in Nerium or any MLM scheme, it depends on how many people you can recruit into your team and the team monthly sales volume. It’s once you start advancing up the ranks that you can really start to earn some respectable income. At the base level you’ll be lucky to make any profit whatsoever.

Target Audience
So many companies in MLM target both beauty and health and wellness. It’s a tough niche, but many people both enjoy these products and like to try their hand at selling them. MLM also appeals to individuals who want to start something for themselves but don’t want to have to create everything from scratch.
What I Like
- The Nerium business model seems a little better than some other MLM deals I’ve reviewed
- They give you access to quite a bit of stuff when you join, including a website and training
- The products are fairly well received
- The products and opportunity are currently available in 11 countries
What I Don’t Like
- The products – like all MLM businesses – are expensive
- It’s very, very hard making money both in the Nerium niche, and through network marketing
- Most distributors will make no profit at all, while the average earnings will be around $500 a year for those that do actually make some money
- The beauty and health niches are super saturated and competitive
How Much Does Nerium International Cost?
This one is quite expensive to get started in. At the minimum to become a Brand Partner you will need to spend $499.95 for the basic Starter Pack. This consists of marketing and training materials, as well as 10 Nerium products. There is also the Builder Pack for $749.95 and the Premier Builder Pack for $999.95. Don’t forget you also get your own website.
Is Nerium International a Scam?
There is no scam when it comes to Nerium products, nor the business opportunity. I’m not a fan of the MLM way of doing things, as it’s focus is really all on recruitment and the structure is heavily slanted in the favour of the company rather than its distributors. But as far as MLM ventures go, Nerium International looks like one of the better ones.
There are better ways to make money though.
