What Is Spare5?
Spare5 is brought to us by Mighty AI and is another rewards platform/app that enables you to earn small rewards for completing simple tasks. It’s yet another GPT (get paid to) site that pays you very little for your time.
There is one slight variation with Spare5 though. The target is really about providing insight into human activity, rather than just filling out mindless surveys and watching videos and the like.
While earning peanuts from rewards sites is okay in a way, it's not really a very good exchange of your valuable time for money. How about starting up a really simple and cheap online business instead. I do affiliate marketing and it brings in more than a fulltime income every month, mostly passive income now. How It Works
Joining Spare5 is completely free. You can either sign up by logging in with your Facebook or Google+ account, or create an account directly on the site or app. Once on board it’s necessary to fill out a series of profile questions. This enables Spare5 the ability to better match you with various tasks to earn rewards. You also receive a small reward just for completing the sign up and profile process.
Payments for the tasks you complete are paid in cash via PayPal, and payments are sent out on Fridays. There is a minimum level of $5 to be reached before you will get paid out.
When you complete tasks on Spare5 they are really assessing your interaction and views on audio, video and image files for the most part. It’s essentially all about helping computers understand how people interact with audio, video and images.
Some examples are:
- Assign keywords to a photo
- Isolate elements in images by drawing around the edges of an object
- Listen to an audio file and comment on what you hear
There are even some tutorial videos available on the site that explain how to do the tasks and what it all means.

Types of Rewards
Spare5 pay out all their rewards in cash via PayPal every Friday, so long as your account has reached a minimum of $5. It can take a little while to reach that first payment, as rewards rates are low, and when you first join you can be waiting a while before you start receiving tasks to do.
How Much Money Will You Make?
In all honesty, not much. Even though this site is a little different and possibly more interesting than some other rewards sites, the pay rates are still abysmal.
Let’s look at a few examples.
When you complete your profile you are rewarded with 10 cents. While awaiting the arrival of some more major tasks, you can complete minor tasks and earn amounts like 1 cent for your time. Some other tasks pay a little more, but overall it’s a very poor trade off for your precious time.

The Referral Program
Possibly this is an area where you could make it more worth your while, if you are good at mass recruiting. Spare5 have a referral program where you stand to earn $2 plus a $1 bonus for every referral that cashes out a minimum of $10 from completing Spare5 tasks. In other words, you don’t earn simply for referring people. Your referrals actually have to be active on the site.
Target Audience
This platform is targeted at anyone looking to make a little bit of spare time income. I guess it could appeal to everyone who spends time online.

- The tasks are a little different and more interesting than your typical rewards site
- You can use the platform either on a computer or an iPhone/iPad
What I Don’t Like
- The reward rates are super low and hardly worth your time
- The app is only available for the iPhone and not Android
How Much Does Spare5 Cost?
It doesn’t cost you anything to join and participate. You just won’t make very much money completing the tasks.
Is Spare5 a Scam?
There’s no scam here with the Spare5 platform. It’s like a new and rather interesting take on the rewards site/GPT idea. Some of the tasks can be quite interesting.
The real downside to Spare5 and all the others is that the amount they are willing to pay you for your time is miniscule. You really do waste a lot of time on the tasks and barely make a dollar for your efforts.
It might be an okay way to get started making a little bit of cash, but if the goal is real and genuinely usable money, then give this a miss and find something far better and infinitely more profitable. Read below…
