What Is NHT Global?
NHT Global kicked off it’s personal care and health and wellness company in 2001. It was started by its parent company – National Health Trends Corporation – to move its product range via the multi level marketing (MLM) distribution method.
These days there are literally hundreds of companies in this highly competitive niche selling products via direct marketing rather than going the retail route. There are reasons why so many businesses are adopting MLM, and I’ll explain that in another section further down.
Once the company officially launched, sales immediately started to snowball. These days NHT Global sells products and offers their business opportunity in more than 40 countries across the globe. So far they have amassed over half a billion dollars in sales.

NHT Global Products
I won’t delve deep into the product range offered by NHT Global as this review is more focused on the business opportunity, but we’ll take a quick look at what’s on offer.
The products fall into 4 main categories:
- Beauty
- Herbal
- Lifestyle
- Wellness
In the health and wellness range they have fibre supplements, glucosamine, nutritional juices and the like.
The beauty range contains products like face and hair masks, moisturisers and other skincare products.
Herbal and Lifestyle are made up of more supplements and wellness products.
As is the case with all MLM products, the prices are sky high compared to similar products in the retail market. As an example, a 32oz (just under a litre) bottle of Premium Noni Juice – a vitamin and mineral drink – retails for US $55!
That’s pretty damned expensive for a one litre bottle of juice.
One of my pet hates about MLM is the ridiculous prices all these companies have to charge because of the way they compensate their members. It’s just a rip off in every instance.
The NHT Global Compensation Plan
Becoming a distributor for NHT Global requires you pay an enrolment fee as well as purchase a product pack. However, your “active” status isn’t achieved until you recruit at least 2 more members who do the same. Only then will you be eligible to start earning commissions and bonuses.
With MLM the main ways to earn are through retail sales and recruiting. The real money in MLM comes through massive recruitment, where you advance up the ranks and earn residual commissions from your downline. This is also the part where most people get totally stuck. Without recruiting you will get nowhere in the MLM setup.
There are 4 main ways you can specifically earn with NHT Global and they are:
- Retail sales
- Generational bonus
- Express override bonus
- True matching bonus
Usually in a MLM business they have a multitude of ranks you can achieve. Apart from your starting rank, there are only 4 others:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum

The MLM Business Opportunity
The reason why MLM is so popular with businesses these days is because of all the advantages it gives the company and its founding members. Network marketing companies such as NHT sell their opportunity on the dream of being able to own your own business and live life on your terms.
In reality that’s all a bit of a fantasy and a sales pitch. You never actually own your own business when you join a MLM opportunity. The company owns and controls everything. You are merely acting as a sales rep for them, except you generally have to pay the company a fee for the right to be their rep, as well as purchase X amount of products every single month to remain eligible as a rep.
You receive no retainer and get paid no wages. You become the seller, for which you pay a fee, and at the same time you also become a regular customer.
It’s all a win-win for NHT Global and just about every other MLM deal out there.
The company gets a free workforce that busts its butt for the promise of commissions, bonuses, and one day in the far off distant future, a dream lifestyle. The reps do all the work, make all the sales, buy much of the product, grow the company by doing all the recruiting, do all the advertising and promoting, yet somehow tens of thousands of people believe they’re on a good deal when they join MLM.
It’s a killer deal for the actual company, but an atrocious one for the distributors.

Is NHT Global An Illegal Pyramid Scheme?
An illegal pyramid scheme is what’s called a naked pyramid. This means there are no products of any value, retail or otherwise, and the scheme relies entirely on bringing in new people and new money to keep it going.
Many MLM companies get accused of being illegal pyramid schemes because their compensation plans are built on a pyramid structure. They also rely very heavily on recruitment and selling products to their own workforce. However, because NHT Global has plenty of retail products that are worth something, they are not an illegal, naked pyramid scheme.
What I Like
- They have more than just health supplements
- It’s an international company
- You get your own website
What I Don’t Like
- It’s still typical MLM, which means it’s an extremely tough way to make money
- All the advantages go to the company while all the disadvantages go to the distributors
- You have to pay for the right to be a sales rep for NHT Global
- Some 95% of people fail miserably at MLM
- If you can’t recruit constantly, you will struggle to advance and make any real money for the time you spend promoting this business
- You have to purchase or sell a minimum amount of product every month to remain commission-eligible
- The niche this company is in is super saturated already, so there is loads of competition
- The prices of the products are astronomical
How Much Does NHT Global Cost?
To really get involved in this opportunity you have to purchase the Business Builder Pack, which costs $50 per year. For this you get a website to help with product sales and recruitment, as well as unlimited access to the back office.
In addition you are required to purchase for yourself, or sell, a certain amount of product every single month, as well as recruit at least 2 people who do the same, to be eligible to earn bonuses and commissions.
Is NHT Global a Scam?
I don’t believe this is a scam any more than any other MLM company. It’s just typical MLM, where you need to recruit like a maniac and basically work for free to have a chance of making some money somewhere down the line.
Yes, many businesses are like that, but you don’t actually have your own business with NHT Global. It’s their business. You just work for them without pay, pretty much.
The health and wellness niche along with skincare and beauty is so competitive in the MLM world it’s way beyond a joke. The prices are super expensive and most people fail because of the need to constantly recruit new members into their downline. Not only do you need new members to advance in MLM and have a chance of making decent money. They actually have to be very active recruits who also recruit and make sales regularly.
MLM is one of the toughest ways on the planet to make an income. It would probably be more profitable and way less work to simply do some paid surveys online…Seriously.
NHT Global is okay and above board, but if your goal is to make money and not just buy their products, then look for something else.
