What Is AWOL Academy and How Does It Work?
This platform officially launched back in 2015. Years ago there was another version of this called Project AWOL, and they were an active part of the Empower Network. The AWOL (Another Way Of Life) Academy is something completely different.
Based in Las Vegas, AWOL Academy currently enjoys an A- Rating with the BBB.
This platform is all about training in affiliate marketing and getting started making an income (or more) online. Affiliate marketing is worth getting into, as I can vouch for, having been doing it myself for a number of years now.
Everything starts off with a free webinar, after which viewers can make a more informed decision about whether they want to take things further and join. There is no free trial and the minimum joining fee is $99. The webinar is not overly-hyped like some of these things often are, and the presentation was actually quite honest and refreshing in that aspect.
I do affiliate marketing myself, and it was easy to get started by following the training at Wealthy Affiliate. You can even join for FREE!
Target Audience
This system is targeted at beginners who would like to get a start online with affiliate marketing and related services. However, because of the costs involved, if you are really struggling for money – or need to make money quickly – then this really isn’t the best option for you right now.
Tools and Training
There is quite a bit of pretty good training on offer with AWOL Academy, but most of it’s not very cheap, so be prepared. To offset the prices though, they do have a 2 tier affiliate program that pays out 30% commissions for sales to direct referrals and a further 3% on any sales your direct referrals make.
To become eligible as an affiliate, you will be required to pay a monthly fee on top of the $99 at a price of $39.95. Affiliates are also required to purchase the Traffic Academy training package to participate in the affiliate program. That one costs $997, so not very bargain-friendly to start making money from selling this system.
However, that being said, it’s not all about selling AWOL Academy. The training you do here can set you up nicely to make money online promoting all manner of different things.
Let’s briefly take a look at each training package.
Pro Academy – $99
This is the training you immediately get access to when you join. It is broken up into 4 modules with a total of 25 videos.
Module one is all about affiliate marketing and how to set up an online business properly. It also talks about domain names, setting up a website in WordPress and hosting.
The second module moves on to explain the creation of landing pages, autoresponders for email sequences, as well as automating a sales funnel. Here you will be introduced to some other services you’ll need to get all of this rolling, such as Lead Pages, GetResponse and ClickMagick.
Module number three contains 3 videos that explain how to go about finding affiliate programs to join and affiliate offers to promote.
The fourth and final module talks about analysing conversion rates, options for paid advertising and how email marketing all works.
Inbox Academy – $297
Once again there are four modules in this training package as well. This one fully focuses on email marketing, hence the name. The four modules are as follows:
Module 1 – This one goes over the basics of email marketing, an overview.
Module 2 – Learn all about email delivery.
Module 3 – Discusses open rates, meaning how many people actually open the emails you send and how to get that figure as high as possible.
Module 4 – The end result of the email sequence is actually getting people to click on the links within the emails, and that’s what this module talks about.
Conversion Academy – $997
Your business won’t succeed without those all-important conversions, so this is discussed in detail in the Conversion Academy training kit.
This is a 6 module set that covers epic story telling to engage your audience, mind control hacks to get into your customer’s psychology, live sales formula such as webinars, creating an evergreen formula for ongoing sales, targeting high ticket items and actually selling them, and tracking all your affiliate campaigns so you know what’s working and what’s not.

Traffic Academy – $997
Traffic Academy is all about traffic, naturally. Without the traffic there’s no hope of conversions and making money. Leveraging Facebook in a big way as well as some other platforms, you will learn not just how to get lots of traffic, but traffic that is targeted and relevant, as this leads to a much higher conversion rate and a lot more money
This training has a total of 5 modules and they are:
Module 1 – Facebook traffic academy
Module 2 – The YouTube traffic formula
Module 3 – Traffic formula for Instagram
Module 4 – Getting Bing and Yahoo traffic (PPC)
Module 5 – CPA traffic
Masters Academy – $3497
This training course is really a bit of a step up and a step away from the first courses, as in it really gets into the psychology of business, with mindset training techniques, business and wealth building and the accounting side of things.
There are 3 sections to this one and they are:
One – Mindset hacks
Two – Wealth strategies
Three – From solo entrepreneur to CEO
AWOL Elite – $9997
This is the complete AWOL package. You receive everything we’ve just talked about above, plus access to a regular 2 hour weekly webinar and access to their private Facebook group for mentoring. It’s a big price to pay, as it costs more than all the other trainings combined, but you do get the webinar and FB group pass included.
It’s a high price tag, and maybe not one you’re willing to pay if you’ve already purchased some or all of the other training packages, unless you get a rebate for those off the price of AWOL Elite.
The Pros
- Loads of quality training included in each package, especially the $99 one
- The owners seem very upfront and honest
- Not over-hyped like so many other platforms out there
- You can make excellent money as an affiliate
- The training covers just about everything you need to know to get started in a big way
The Cons
- It costs a bit to qualify to become an affiliate of AWOL Academy
- The training packages are quite expensive for the average person just starting out
How Much Does AWOL Academy Cost?
To join and go through their basic training package it will set you back $99. Technically that’s all you need to pay to learn the basics here. If you want to become an affiliate for AWOL and sell their training to others, you will be required to pay a further $39.95 per month as well as purchase the Traffic Academy training package for $997.
Is AWOL Academy a Scam?
No, there’s absolutely no scam here. AWOL is pricey, but it does seem really good in many ways. I would have rated it higher if price wasn’t such a barrier to many entrepreneurs just starting out. If you can afford it, getting involved in a number of the trainings here would likely be worth your while. At the very least, you can learn a fair amount for your $99.
A Much Cheaper Way To Make Money Online
I do affiliate marketing and some email marketing as well. Affiliate marketing sure is a great way to make money online. You can make a little per month or a lot. How much is really up to you, how much time you commit to putting into your business and how far you want to take it. Many marketers make a fulltime living and way beyond that.
Although the AWOL Academy training sounds awesome, it is expensive. I did some great training that showed me how to set up a successful affiliate marketing business. It starts with a free trial and the one membership upgrade is only a fraction of the price of AWOL.
Plus, more than a million people have gone through the training I did, so it definitely has value.

Hey really good article, i also made a review on this same product. I did not review it that good because the prices are crazy and they lie too. They try to promise you can make 10k your first month and also there LIVE webinar that i attended was actually pre recored and they were tricking people, i saw so many bad reviews on them. Yes the training may be good but they hide all the up sells until you get in there, i almost spent the 99 dollars until i found all of this out.

Yes, you’re right. AWOL is very pricey when you really dig into it, and likely too expensive for anyone just starting out. However, I do believe they have lots of good stuff to offer. I’m not an affiliate of AWOL or anything. I just like to call it as I see it. I would have rated them more highly if they dropped the prices considerably and didn’t have so many upsells. There are programs out there that are far cheaper, such as my recommended training platform.
