What Is Transcribe Anywhere?
A transcriptionist is somebody who listens to an audio file and then transcribes what they hear into written format. There are a lot of platforms online offering people part-time work as transcriptionists, and Transcribe Anywhere is yet another of these platforms.
Or so it seems at first glance.
However, there is a major difference between Transcribe Anywhere and sites like TranscribeMe and Babbletype, as the main focus of Transcribe Anywhere is to teach people how to be effective and “qualified” transcriptionists by offering courses on the subject.
While anyone can get jobs as transcriptionists on sites like I mentioned above, obviously the better you are at it, the more money you can earn, because it’s all about your time and how fast and accurately you can complete your tasks.
Transcribing audio for some extra cash in your spare time is fine, but it's hardly going to be a real money spinner.
If you want to make great money online from home, much of it passive income, without needing to be some sort of guru or spend a lot of money, then try affiliate marketing. It's what I do to earn a living online.

What’s On Offer?
When you join Transcribe Anywhere you are offered several of courses to choose from, which are:
- General Transcription: Theory and Practice
- Legal Transcription: Theory and Practice
Both of these courses also have free mini courses so you can sample them and see what’s involved.
Technically, if you do some study here, then you are likely going to be more qualified for real world transcriptionist positions that will pay far more than the online ones do.
The platform and courses were created by Janet Shaughnessy. Janet is a fully qualified and experienced transcriptionist and she owns her very own transcription company called Zoom Transcription Services.
The legal course is obviously more specialised, whereas most people will have more actual employment options with the general course; which covers a bit of everything and is designed to equip you with quality transcription skills in general.

Free General Transcription Mini Course
As this is likely the very first step most people interested in general transcription are going to take, let’s see what the free mini course offers very briefly:
- Lesson 1 – Meet Janet and learn more about her.

- Lesson 3 – Busting the myths associated with transcribing.
- Lesson 4 – Discover whether you’re suited to the job or not.

Is This Training Even Necessary?
This depends. To do the online gigs that anyone can do, no it’s not necessary. However, it will likely make you far better at it so you can earn more money.
For the offline world – especially if you wanted to get a position as a legal transcriptionists, such as in the court room – then Janet’s courses could be the difference between landing a job and being overlooked.
Target Audience
The courses are targeted at anyone looking to improve their transcriptionist skillset, either for online or offline work. Even if you’ve never done any transcribing, then these courses are a way of opening the doors to new job opportunities.

- The courses are detailed and legit
- Janet’s courses are genuinely designed to help people and improve their skills and career prospects
- The website is very detailed and completely transparent about what’s involved
- Each course has a free mini introductory course for people to “try before they buy”
What I Don’t Like
- The prices of the courses seem very expensive to me, especially if the goal is to do very low-paying online transcription work

Okay, in my eyes the courses are expensive, but others may beg to differ.

Is Transcribe Anywhere a Scam?
Transcribe Anywhere is definitely not a scam at all. These are legitimate courses run by a legitimate company.
If you are looking to improve your job prospects in the offline world, then I’d say what you learn in these courses is probably worth the price tags. However, if you are only planning to do online transcribing for pennies, then the price of Janet’s courses is likely too steep to pay in comparison to your earning potential.
If you want to be a transcriptionist offline, then go for it and pick a course. If you want to do it online only, then give it a miss. You just won’t be earning enough to justify the cost of the courses.
But that’s just my opinion.

Another option to make money online is to do what I do. Online transcription work pays peanuts, but if you do affiliate marketing, then the sky is the limit as far as your income potential goes.
This is not a hard business to do, nor does it cost very much to get started. Anyone can be an affiliate marketer and be successful at it if they are shown how.

Scam – Transcibe Anywhere.
Keep in mind, and make no mistake, Janet Shaughnessy makes her living off of this course – if you pay $700, multiply that by 50 people/month and she’s made $35,000 that month. You really think you’re going to make that kind of money typing? No. You’re not.
She is not a Paralegal or even close to being someone who has worked legitimately in law. The legal transcription course is a joke. To do legal transcription, it requires much more than 5 final exam questions on the most common legal terms.
Read the other articles – even those people are not working doing transcription!! They too realized there was no money in it and moved on to be affiliate marketers for Janet Shaughnessy making money off of scamming you into believing the course is legit.
Additionally, if you want to get into transcription, run away. You will NEVER a decent income at it unless you are a Paralegal already working under the legal supervision of an attorney.
You will NEVER make back in income what this scam artist charges you.
Buyer beware.
