What Is Direct Cellars?

This is yet another business that moves its products through a network marketing/multi level marketing setup. So many of the MLM businesses I review are based in the health and wellness niche. This one is all about wines, and was started in 2014 by David DiStefano. It’s actually good to come across a MLM that isn’t in the health niche for a change.

The Products

As I mentioned, and as the name suggests, this company sells wines. As a customer you don’t actually get to choose the wines. Probably not good for the true wine connoisseurs out there. What Direct Cellars do is send out a selection of different wines. The amount depends on the size of the package you order, but the prices work out around $20-$35 per bottle, and depends on whether you buy a one-off or get them auto-shipped every month. The wines come from all over the world, so there is certainly some variety. Apparently all are taste-tested and hand-picked by company wine tasting alcoholics, I mean experts. You can select all white or all red, or a combination of the two.

Here are the wine packages that are available:

  • 2 x Bottles Auto-Shipped Monthly = $49.95
  • 2 x Bottles One-Off = $69.95
  • 4 x Bottles Auto-Shipped Monthly = $79.95
  • 4 x Bottles One-Off = $99.95

These prices sound expensive depending on what wines you actually get, but you’ve got to remember, these are sold by the multi level marketing method; meaning the price will be more expensive because of all the commissions and bonuses getting paid out down the line.

There is a far easier way to make money than MLM. I can show you how…

The Business Opportunity

You don’t have to be a wine drinker to sell this as a business opportunity, but it would probably help. That way you can sample many of the wines yourself and convince others of just how yummy they are. Also, to make real money with this you need to recruit people into the system. If everyone enjoys wine on a regular basis, and being a very social substance, it would definitely be an advantage.

At first glance when you buy your starter pack of wine, there doesn’t appear to be any price difference between the distributor pack or the customer pack. No discount, so kind of hard to sell it and make a profit as a distributor.

Direct Cellars Compensation 1What does seem to be the real focus is on making commissions from those you recruit into your downline. Depending on your level or ranking within the company, your commission rate will either be lower or higher. Basically you move up a level each time you directly recruit somebody else. The ranks are:

  1. Lover
  2. Enthusiast
  3. Critic
  4. Specialist
  5. Expert
  6. Connoisseur
  7. Aficionado
  8. Master
  9. Cellar

Commissions range from 10% at level 1 down to 2% at level 9. To remain eligible for commissions, at a minimum you must recruit and maintain at least two direct referrals who each receive a monthly auto-ship of wine to the value of $79.95 or greater.

There are a number of ways you can earn with the Direct Cellars compensation plan:

  • Retail commissions
  • Dual team pay
  • Unilevel commissions
  • Fast start bonus
  • Check match bonus

Watch the video below for a more in-depth breakdown of the compensation plan.

Target Audience

This is definitely targeted at people who enjoy wine, as the social aspect will certainly help you to sell this. People who are looking for a network marketing product that’s a little different may also be attracted to this one.

Discover How To Fast Track Your Financial Success

The Pros

  • The wine niche is nowhere near as competitive as some other niches in MLM
  • The wines are high quality
  • The compensation plan is not too bad
  • Guarantee on the wines

The Cons

  • No price difference on a starter pack for distributors and shoppers
  • The wines are quite expensive
  • MLM can be a tough grind if you want to make really good money
  • You might become an alcoholic promoting and selling wine all the time

Tools and Training

Your sponsor should guide you through the processes of how the business works and how best to recruit other into the business. Attending some company meet ups, as well as just getting social online and offline will help get more interest.

How Much Does Direct Cellars Business Opportunity Cost?

If you want to be a distributor you have a choice between 2 different wine packs to get started.

  1. Premium Wine Lover = $249.95 (4 Bottles)
  2. Premium Wine Lover Elite = $499.95 (12 Bottles)

You also need to have a minimum of $79.95 auto-shipped to your address each month. In addition, to remain commission eligible, at least 2 direct referrals who each purchase $79.95 of wine per month will be required to maintain your eligibility.

Is Direct Cellars a Scam?

It’s not a scam at all. In fact, a MLM company that distributes wine is a breath of fresh air for me. Whether you could really make a profitable business out of this, I’m not sure, but if you’re into wine anyway, then it might be worth looking into.

Personally I’m not a fan of the MLM business model, but that’s just me. I think it’s a real grind trying to do business on the constant-recruitment train. To me there are far better ways to make money with your own gig.

A Better Way To Make Money Online

I prefer to conduct business entirely online because there are so many advantages. Things like:

  • Holidays MaldivesWork from home or anywhere
  • Promote to a global marketplace
  • Spend more time with loved ones
  • Huge variety of products to promote
  • Travel whenever I want
  • No minimum monthly spend on anything
  • Extremely low business overheads

The list goes on and on.

So how do I make my living online and manage to live the kind of lifestyle I’ve always wanted?

I do affiliate marketing, and you can too. Anyone can do this. All you do is promote the products of other companies online and get paid commissions when sales are made. No handling of products, no direct selling and no posting anything. It really is a no brainer business in a lot of ways.

I took some training that showed me the right way to go about it so I would see success as quickly as possible – some training where you can actually “earn as you learn”. To learn more about the training I did, just click the banner below to read my review.
